Author Kit

Note: SMART Boards will be available for use in presentations. See the at-the-conference facilities section.

This author kit is intended to help authors of accepted CSCW'98 submissions:

  1. prepare camera-ready copy for the conference proceedings
  2. submit electronic abstracts for the conference Web site
  3. request audio-visual and computing equipment
  4. submit copyright and permission forms
  5. give a quality presentation at CSCW'98
Camera-ready copy, electronic abstracts, AV/Computing equipment requests, and copyright and permission forms are due by July 24, 1998.

Although the deadlines have passed, this kit also includes useful hints for authors preparing paper and video submissions. (For submission requirements, please consult the relevant sections of the Call For Participation.)

1. Prepare Camera-Ready Copy

1.a. Authors of CSCW'98 Paper Submissions:

Authors of accepted papers must submit three camera-ready copies of the paper, maximum length 10 pages, for the Conference Proceedings. The CHI Conference Publications Format is required. The page limit will be strictly enforced. NOTE: If you are printing on A4 paper, be sure to set margins properly (directions for doing so are in the CHI Conference Publications Format). The comments from reviewers may be useful when revising the submission.

Camera-ready copies of all paper submissions must be received by the Proceedings Chair by July 24, 1998. Send to:

PHONE: +1 401-331-2014
FAX: +1 401-331-2015

1.b. Authors of Demonstration, Doctoral Consortium, Panel, Tutorial, and Video Submissions, and Invited Speakers:

Your Co-Chair will contact you about what information you need to provide for the Conference Proceedings for your submission category.

2. Submit Electronic Abstracts

If you
  • did not submit an electronic abstract when you submitted, or
  • have revised the abstract that you submitted, then
submit an ASCII-only copy of your abstract for the CSCW'98 Web site to Scott Mainwaring, the Electronic Publishing Chair. (You can review your abstracts by consulting the Author Index in the Conference Program.)

Electronic abstracts must be received by the Electronic Publishing Chair by July 24, 1998. Send abstracts via e-mail to:

mainwaring@acm.org
In your e-mail, include the Submission Category, Title, Authors and their Affiliations in addition to the Abstract.

3. Request Audio-Visual and Computing Equipment

An Audio-Visual and Computing Needs Form is required for demonstrations, papers, panels, tutorials, workshops and invited speakers.

The following formats are available for download:

Format Form
PDF (8K) Audio-Visual and Computing Needs Form--PDF
.ps (282K) Audio-Visual and Computing Needs Form--.ps
ASCII (5K) Audio-Visual and Computing Needs Form--ASCII

Authors of video and doctoral consortium submissions do not need to complete the form.

The Audio-Visual and Computing Needs Form must be received by the Proceedings Chair by July 24, 1998. Send to:

4. Submit Copyright and Permission Forms

Authors of Papers must complete and return the ACM Copyright Form.

All other submissions (demonstrations, doctoral consortium, invited speakers, panels, tutorials, videos, workshops) must complete and return the ACM Permission and Release Form.

Video submissions must include a second form, the Video/Audio Permission Form. Note that ACM/SIGCHI does not recommend that authors use music in their video submissions. If music is included, all music license forms and fees are the author's responsibility.

Copyright and permission forms must by received by the Proceedings Chair by July 24, 1998. FAX is not sufficient for the permission forms; ACM requires an original for permissions. Send to:
