Responsibilities

This document describes the relationship between the SIGCHI Executive Committee and the CHI Steering Committee in terms of responsibilities and roles with respect to the organisation of CHI 2018 and beyond. (Jan 18th, 2017, this page is in under development)

The SIGCHI Executive Committee has created a steering committee for the CHI conference series. This document describes the relationship between the SIGCHI Executive Committee and the CHI Steering Committee in terms of responsibilities and roles with respect to the organisation of CHI 2018 and beyond.

SIGCHI Executive Committee Responsibilities with respect to CHI

  • Approval of final CHI budget each year

With respect to the final point. The SIGCHI EC has a history of running, encouraging, supporting and proposing such events which are now important ways for SIGCHI to connect, through CHI, to our community at large. The CHI SC liaison to a particular CHI along with the General and TPC should ensure they are aware and agree with the SIGCHI EC what is feasible given a number of these events have now been running for many years.

CHI Steering Committee

This committee will establish objectives for CHI compatible with SIGCHI EC objectives and vision for CHI, and to ensure that the mechanisms for accomplishing these goals are put in place, and to serve as a focal point for communications between the CHI Conference Committee, SIGCHI EC, and the ACM Headquarters Staff. The CHI SC should also endeavour to grow and develop the volunteer base and progression to role requiring more experience and seniority.
