Co-chairs
of CHI99
By: Phoebe Meskill (8) / Brian Jaffee (13)
We had a chance on Monday to speak with the co-chairs of CHI99.
They are Marian Williams and Mark Altom.
First we asked them what they are doing here. They told us that
they were this years co-chairs. This is their third year working
together at CHI. Mark has been at CHI since 1984 and Marian since
1989. Mark told us that he works at Bell Laboratories Lucent Technologies.
Marian said that she teaches and does research at the University
of Massachusetts of Lowell.
"Trying to make them be easy to use keeps me employed," said
Mark about his favorite thing about computers. Marian's favorite
food is Cheerios and her favorite color teal green. "Mark will
eat anything," stated Marian, and his favorite color is gray.
They like their job at CHI the most because they get to work with
lots of intelligent people that like to get things done.
Mark's favorite font is Times New Roman, and Marian's favorite
font is called Sand. When we asked for any final remarks they
both told us to quote that "Paul Henning, the conference manager,
knows how to make miracles."
