EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT

A discount is available for registrations received on or before 8 April 1999. Conference participants should register early and arrange travel and accommodations. Early registration for tutorials is especially important, since popular tutorials fill up quickly.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES

Thursday, 8 April 1999
The early registration discount deadline is 8 April 1999. To qualify for the greatest discount, forms must be received by this date.

Thursday, 29 April 1999
The last day to advance register by postal mail, fax, or online is 29 April 1999. If your registration form is received at the Registration Office after this date, you will be charged the on-site registration fee and you will not receive a confirmation.

HOW TO REGISTER

Registrations are accepted by postal mail, courier, and fax. You may also register online at www.reg-master.com/chi99.html (a printable form can be found here as well). Telephone registrations will not be accepted.

The on-site registration area will be located in the South Hall of the convention center.

There are separate fees for Tutorials and Workshops.

"MEMBER" CONFERENCE FEE

If you are a member of ACM, ACM SIGCHI, or any of the cooperating societies listed on the back cover, you qualify for the member registration fee.

"NON-MEMBER" CONFERENCE FEE

Included in the registration fee for non-members is a one-year membership in ACM and ACM SIGCHI.

STUDENT CONFERENCE FEE

Full time students qualify for the student registration fee. Students must have proof of full-time status.

TUTORIAL REGISTRATION

Full and half-day tutorials are offered on 15-17 May. There is a separate fee for each tutorial. Registration for tutorials is limited and assigned in the order received. Tutorial availability information may be found at www.regmaster.com/chi99.html

WORKSHOP REGISTRATION

Workshops are on 16 and 17 May. Workshop participation requires the payment of an additional fee: US$75 for a one-day workshop or US$150 for a one-and-a-half or two-day workshop. To take advantage of reduced conference fees, register by the early deadline (8 April 1999) even if you have not received notification of workshop acceptance. When you receive notification of acceptance, please send workshop payment to the CHI 99 Registration office along with a note including the name of your workshop, your name, address, telephone, fax, and email. If you register for the conference following notification of workshop acceptance, you may register for the workshop and conference with the conference registration form.

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS

CHI 99 welcomes accompanying persons to the conference. An accompanying person is an adult, 18 years and older. Accompanying persons can be registered for US$95 each. Fee includes access to The Commons (Exhibits, Posters, and Coffee Breaks) Opening and Closing Plenaries, and the Conference Reception.

CONFERENCE RECEPTION TICKETS

Conference participants and registered Accompanying Persons will receive a reception ticket in their registration packet. Additional reception tickets are available for US$55 on the advance registration form or at the CHI Store.

Reception tickets are available at reduced rates for children ages 12 and under: 0-6 years, free; 7-12 years, $27.50.

PAYMENT

Registration forms must be accompanied by full payment in US dollars. Payment may be by credit card, check, or money order. Checks and money orders should be made payable to ACM/CHI 99. CHI 99 cannot accept purchase orders, wire transfers, or government vouchers.

CONFIRMATION

Allow up to two weeks for mailed confirmation of your registration. CHI 99 cannot fax or email confirmations. If your registration form is received after 29 April 1999, you will not receive confirmation prior to your arrival.

REFUND REQUESTS

Refund requests must be submitted in writing and must be received or faxed on or before 29 April 1999 at the Registration Office. A US$75 cancellation fee will be deducted to cover processing costs. CHI 99 cannot accept refund requests after 29 April 1999.

REGISTRATION TRANSFERS

If you cannot attend, your registration may be transferred by giving a colleague a letter authorizing the transfer. The letter must be presented at registration.

MERCHANDISE

Pre-ordered merchandise may be picked up in the registration area in the South Hall of the convention center until 1:00 pm on Thursday 20 May. Unclaimed pre-ordered merchandise will be sold at the CHI Store starting at 1:00 pm on Thursday 20 May.

If you are unable to attend the conference, and do not cancel or transfer your registration, you may request that your publications be sent to you, and you may also request a refund for your merchandise.

COOPERATING SOCIETIES

CHI 99 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer- Human Interaction (ACM SIGCHI). If you are a member of ACM, ACM SIGCHI or any of the Cooperating Societies, you qualify for the member conference registration fee.
