On Wednesday we had a chance to interview Michael Kahn, a physician of internal medicine, from Bloomfield, Colorado. He came to the conference to give a plenary talk on healthcare. It was about how computers in medicine are hard for doctors to use. How computers don't help the doctors, they hide the information doctors need to know. The title of his talk was Secrets and Lies. He also works for a company trying to make computers for doctors. He is 1 of 3 doctors involved in this. They also bring in other doctors. When Aha asked how he got involved in his line of work he said, "I was interested in how computers can solve chemistry problems. Then later when I was going to become a doctor I was interested in how computers can solve medical problems. The reason why he came to the CHI Œ98 conference is he thinks medicine needs more recognition from the CHI community. It was a very interesting experience interviewing him.
