Student volunteers are an integral part of the success
of each CHI conference. Students from all disciplines are invited to be
part of the most exciting event in the HCI field.
A wide variety of positions are available at the Conference. Many of the duties are not glamorous, but all positions provide opportunities to interact with CHI 98 contributors, attendees and committee members from all parts of the world and many diverse areas of the HCI community. BenefitsIn return for their help with the conference, student volunteers receive many benefits including free conference registration, some meals, a Conference Reception ticket, a student volunteer T-shirt and an invitation to the volunteer thank-you party.Student volunteers also have access to reduced housing rates. Rooms are shared with one other student volunteer of the same gender or single rooms are available at additional cost. All student volunteers are responsible for their own travel to and from Los Angeles and for meals not provided. QualificationsVolunteers must be undergraduate, master's or doctoral students during the 1997-8 academic year. All students, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply. No experience is required. We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, reliable people.Volunteers must commit to a total of 20 volunteer hours of work at the conference between 17-23 April. How to ApplyElectronic submissions are preferred. The form can be filled out on the Web or can be obtained by contacting chi98-students@acm.org.A valid, dated, student identification card or a letter from your university/school must be presented when you register at the conference. Applications must be received no later than the deadline given. However, since all Student Volunteer positions are often filled several months before the actual deadline, early application is advised. A waiting list will be kept if all positions are filled. |
