INTRODUCTION
The Visual Interaction Design Special Interest Area (VIDSIA) meeting provides a place for visual design practitioners, educators, and supporters to gather informally and share ideas and work. VIDSIA was formed at CHI 92 and has met at CHI since. We created VISUAL-L, a popular electronic distibution list for those interested in visual aspects of interaction design, and the VIDSIA column of the SIGCHI Bulletin.
In the past, meeting attendees have incuded practitioners in graphic and industrial design, design educators and students, multimedia and web developers, and those generally interested in the visual design of interactive digital environments.
MEETING FORMAT
The meeting will consist of three parts:
Announcements: Events of particular interest to the visual design community. These will include those occuring at CHI 97 and beyond.
Informal presentations: Presentations of works-in-progress, student work, demonstrations of design techniques, and/or discussion of salient topics. These will have been solicited through an announcement posted on VISUAL-L.
Planning: The meeting will close with an opportunity for those who wish to plan specific events for CHI 98 to meet.
