ACM celebrates its 50th Anniversary year February 1996 - February 1997. Events of this year center on achievements of the past. To begin the 51st year, SIGCHI joins ACM in looking to the future, the next 50 years of computing.
CHI 97, "Looking to the Future", asks participants to look forward: What will user interfaces and the field of Human Computer Interaction be like in 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years? How will we get there? What are the implications of these visions? How can industry, the research community and educators work together to provide today's need and the future's?
These are questions we would like you to consider when preparing submissions for CHI 97. We hope for visionary, futuristic CHI presentations which will set the standard for the HCI agenda for the next 50 years.
The co-chairs and the organizing committee are planning innovations, and plenary speakers, that will get us headed toward celebrating the centennial of ACM and our future as members of the HCI community.
