CHI 97: Conference Registration

Early Registration Discount

A substantial discount is available for registrations postmarked or faxed on or before 26 February 1997. No telephone registrations will be accepted, but you can register online.

Conference participants are urged to register early and arrange their travel and accommodations as soon as possible. Please mail or fax your registration form with payment in US dollars to the Registration Office address on the form. On-site conference registration fees are significantly higher.

The CHI 97 Registration area is located on the Exhibits Level outside the Grand Hall at the Hyatt Regency. Pre-registered participants may pick up their badges and other conference materials here. Hours are:

Saturday 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Sunday-Wednesday 8:00 am to 6:30 pm
Thursday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

Conference Registration Fee includes:

If you are a member of ACM/SIGCHI or any of the cooperating societies listed below, you qualify for the member registration fee.

Included in the registration fee for non-members is a membership in ACM and ACM/SIGCHI.

Tutorial Registration

Full and half day tutorials are offered on 23 and 24 March. Two Saturday evening tutorials are also offered. For information about tutorials, see pages 3-14. There is a separate fee for each tutorial. Registration for tutorials is limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Workshop Registration

Workshops run 22-24 March. Participation requires the payment of separate fees: US$50 for a one-day workshop or US$100 for a two-day workshop. To take advantage of reduced conference fees, register by the early deadline (26 February 1997) even if you have not received notification of workshop acceptance. If you receive notification after registering for the conference, please send workshop payment to the Registration Office along with a note including the name of your workshop, your name, address, telephone, fax and e-mail.

If you register for the conference following notification of workshop acceptance, you may register for the workshop and conference with the conference registration form. Just complete the designated workshop section and include your workshop payment along with your conference payment.

Accompanying Persons

You can register accompanying persons for US$95 each, giving them access to the Interface Space and Conference Reception.

Conference Reception Tickets

The CHI 97 Reception will take place at SciTrek on Tuesday, 25 March. SciTrek is within walking distance of the hotels. Conference participants will receive a reception ticket (good for one admission) in their registration packet. Additional reception tickets are available for US$50 on the advance registration form or at the CHI Store.

Electrical Power Availability

It is ACM/SIGCHI policy to use the local power source. In Atlanta it is 110 volt, AC, 60 Hz. Extension cords or power strips will not be provided.

Video Recording Prohibited

The use of video recording equipment is not permitted during any part of the conference.

Registration Deadlines

Early: Thursday, 26 February 1997

Forms must be postmarked by this date to qualify for the early registration discount.

Late: Thursday, 13 March 1997 (5 pm EST/22:00 GMT)

Last day that forms will be accepted by the Registration Office. Please be advised that if your registration form is received at this late date, you may not receive a confirmation letter prior to your arrival in Atlanta.

You can register on site (with higher fees), but it is recommended that you register as early as possible.

Payment

Registration forms must be accompanied by full payment in US dollars. Forms without payment will be returned. Payment may be by credit card, check or money order. Checks and money orders should be made payable to ACM/CHI 97. Purchase orders, wire transfers or government vouchers will not be accepted. Registration forms may be submitted by fax, postal mail or online via the CHI 97 web site. Telephone registrations will not be accepted. Electronic and faxed registrations must be paid by credit card.

Refund Requests

Refund requests must be submitted in writing and must be postmarked or faxed on or before 13 March 1997. Requests for refunds should be directed to the Registration Office. A US$75 cancellation fee will be deducted to cover processing costs. Refund requests postmarked or faxed after 13 March 1997 will not be accepted.

Registration Transfers

If you cannot attend, your registration may be transferred by giving a colleague a letter authorizing the transfer. The letter must be presented at registration.
