This one-day workshop provides an opportunity for practitioners in visual design to share ideas, techniques, and methods for developing visual designs for interfaces. It is intended to provide a focused, peer-oriented setting within which experienced practitioners can share knowledge. Toward this end, each participant is expected to present a single useful technique--through example, demonstration, or case history--to the group. Possible examples might include:
This 1-day workshop will take place on Monday, May 8th, and is limited to 8 participants. Interested individuals should submit a 'participation statement' which will be circulated to chosen participants. It should include a brief description of the proposed technique, focusing on its applicability to interface design, providing some background on its use, and describing the means by which it will be shared with the group. Equipment needs should also be specified (one high-end Macintosh and PC will be provided along with an overhead projector, 35 mm slide projector, and 1/2 inch NTSC VHS VCR. Since selected participants will be expected to document their technique for publication in the SIGCHI Bulletin shortly after the conference, clear submissions will serve as evidence of one's intention to publish.

Selected individuals will be notified by March 15.
A small fee (approximately $50) will be charged participants to cover the costs of coffee breaks, meeting rooms, and audio-visual support.
