CHIkids

CHIkids returns for its fifth year to mix the fun of summer camp, technology, and CHI. For children aged 7-14, we offer an exciting technology program where children can create multimedia stories and try the latest educational multimedia titles or be CHI conference reporters. Our traditional childcare program for children aged 6 months to 7 years offers fun and creative developmentally-appropriate activities. To make all of this happen, CHIkids needs your participation. Volunteer to be a CHIkids leader or daily volunteer. Or, you can participate by submitting materials which will engage the children in CHIkids. Several organizations are participating through the Friends of CHI program.

Technology Workouts and Multimedia/CDRoms

Individuals, educational organizations, and companies that would like to focus on projects that involve kids in innovative educational technological experiences are encouraged to submit short proposals. HCI researchers are invited to bring their work to be used by our 7-14 year old children on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of the CHI conference. Submit a two-page summary of your work that includes authors' contact information, technology summary, the hardware/software you would bring, and the hardware/software you might require. Please indicate the languages your product(s) will support. Both paper and electronic submissions are welcome.

Multimedia/CD-ROM authors are asked to submit their products to be used by our 7-14 year old children throughout the three day technology program. Submit a one-page summary describing the product(s) you would like to lend to CHIkids. Please indicate the language(s) your software will support. Multiple multimedia submissions will be welcomed. Authors do not have to be present at CHIkids during the conference to submit a multimedia product; however, daily volunteers to work with children will be most welcome!
