1. Approval of minutes From the meeting on September 9-11, 2009
(Loren, September 25)
Approved. Loren will post as soon as possible.
2. Urgent discussion of potential starter grant for CHI 2013
Goal: have CHI 2013 in Europe.
Fact: convention costs are very high in Europe.
A starter grant would be a help in evaluating bids, may be
necessary to have a conference in Europe.
VP Conferences will now continue the process, with the knowledge
that the EC will consider making a starter grant available to
make a CHI 2013 in Europe financially viable.
3. Status report on Metadata Management project
Still in progress
4. Status report on HCI Education worldwide
Goal: to develop HCI educational materials and curricula suitable
for conditions around the world
Still in progress, still looking for someone to lead the effort
5. Status report on awards and nominations
Elizabeth: Athena award process: underway
Loren: All ACM award nominations are well under way and moving
forward nicely
Loren's job -- keep records of nominations: specifically, who was
nominated for what award, and who led the process
Several new awards have been suggested. They will be discussed in
the future, beginning at the January EC meeting.
Loren: will collect award issues to discuss at January meeting.
6. Status report on adjunct chair for publicity
Still in progress, looking for an adjunct chair
7. Status report on Mailing lists and Website
Fred: has created role-based logins for the SIGCHI site
is working with ACM on various mailing list issues
Issue: migrating content from old private EC area
8. Public policy and Lobbying -- proposal to move to January meeting
Agreed, and will invite the Chair of the SIGCHI Public Policy
Committee to participate
9. Dan�s proposal on Communities -- proposal to move to January meeting
Agreed
10. January meeting: Austin, TX, January 27 (evening) - January 30 (lunch)
Nick, Scooter: will identify local (Austin) HCI people to meet with
